EXAMS

Upcoming CPC, CPC-H, and CPC-P exams

The following four (4) dates are the New Haven Connecticut Chapter sponsored exam dates. Here are the dates and Proctors:

You must register at least 4 weeks in advance with the National AAPC office in order to take the exam (see www.aapc.com to register). For more information, email Geraldine Cotton,CPC

Requirements:You must apply for the exam though the National AAPC office at 1-800-626-2633. They will send you an exam packet. You must apply more than 30 days in advance of the exam date. Included in the application will be a request for 2 references, so think about whom you may want to contact about a reference.



You must be seated and ready at 8:30am. Doors will close at that time.
Attendees must bring their CPT (only AMA Standard or Professional editions), your choice of the ICD-9-CM Manual, and your choice of HCPCS Level II Manual.

  • Bring #2 pencils and erasers
  • Bring a driver's license or other ID that includes your photo
  • Bring water, snacks, etc - you are given 2 ten-minute breaks during the exam but only one person is allowed out of the exam room at one time. (Remember only to bring "quiet" food).


Exam Information

  • The exam is 5 hours and 40 minutes long
  • It is an open book exam (CPT (only AMA standard or professional editions), your choice of ICD-9-CM, and your choice of HCPCS Level II Manual )
  • 150 questions - multiple choice and true/false
  • Preparation options: Study Guides, Independent Study Program, the Professional and Medical Coding Curriculum and/or a CPC Review class


Which exam should you take?

CPC exam is for those who code for physician services.
CPC-H exam is for those who code for Hospitals/Facilities.
CPC-P exam is for those who adjudicate provider medical claims
